Steps

Step 1

Peel the ripe plantains and cut them into bending slices about 1/2-inch thick.

In a dry skillet, toast the sesame seeds (ajonjolí) over medium heat, stirring frequently until golden brown. This usually takes about 2-3 minutes.

Melt the butter in a separate pan over medium heat. If you're using a dairy-free choice, use that instead. Add the plantain slices to the skillet, sprinkle them with brown sugar, and add a pinch of salt. Sauté the plantains on each side for about 3-4 minutes or until they become caramelized and golden.

Once the plantains are cooked and caramelized, spray the toasted sesame seeds. You can also dust the plantains with ground cinnamon if you like. Serve the Plátanos con Ajonjolí as a side dish, dessert, or a tasty snack.
