Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and then line a small baking dish (8x8 inches or a similar size) with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a food processor, combine flour, sugar, and a little amount of salt. Add cold cubed butter and pulse until the mixture turns into coarse crumbs. Take a prepared baking dish and press the crust mixture evenly onto the bottom.

Step 3

Bake the crust in the preheated oven for 15 minutes or until it's just starting to turn golden around the edges.

Step 4

To make the caramel sauce, you need to start by melting the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Once the butter has melted, add the brown sugar, honey, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Keep stirring the mixture constantly and bring it to a simmer. Once the mixture has started to simmer, remove it from the heat and stir in the chopped pecans.

Step 5

After partially baking the crust, pour the pecan filling over it and spread it evenly. Place the baking dish back in the oven and bake for another 15-20 minutes until the filling sets.

Step 6

Let the pecan pie bars cool in the baking dish entirely. Once the bars have cooled down, you can use the parchment paper to lift them out of the dish. After that, you can cut them into squares and serve. If you want to add an extra touch of sweetness, you can optionally dust them with powdered sugar before serving.
