Step 1

On one plate, spread out the all-purpose flour. On another plate, place the breadcrumbs. Then you will beat the egg in a shallow bowl and season it with a dash of salt and pepper.

Step 2

Season the pork or chicken cutlet with a bit of salt and pepper. Dredge the cutlet in the flour, making sure to coat both sides evenly. Then dip the floured cutlet into the beaten egg, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, coat the cutlet in breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere the breadcrumbs to the meat.

Step 3

In a skillet, you will heat about 1/4 inch of vegetable oil over medium to high heat. The breaded cutlet needs to be gently added to the hot oil and fried for 3–4 minutes on each side, or until it is cooked through and golden brown.

Step 4

Use a slotted spatula to remove the Schnitzel from the skillet and place it on paper towels to drain any excess oil. Serve your Schnitzel hot, optionally with a wedge of lemon for a zesty touch.
