Steps

Step 1

Cook the bacon: In a massive pot or Dutch oven, cook the chopped bacon over medium flame till crisp. Remove bacon from pan and set apart. Leave the rendered oil inside the pan.

Step 2

Stir-Fry: Add the diced onions to the pot with the bacon fat and cook till softened for about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and sauté for another 1-2 minutes till cooked.

Step 3

Add the potatoes and broth: Add the diced potatoes to the pot and pour inside the chicken or vegetable broth. Bring the blend to a boil and cook dinner till the potatoes are soft about 10-15 minutes. Prepare the chowder base.

Step 4

In a separate saucepan, heat the cream over medium flame till warm. Gradually add the clam juice, reserved from the canned clams, and stir until the whole is properly mixed.

Step 5

Mix ingredients: Add 1/2 of the warm mixer to the pot with the cooked potatoes and soup. Add the chopped clams and cooked bacon and mix. Season the soup with salt and black pepper.

Step 6

Simmer and serve: Simmer the soup for a few minutes to allow the flavors to enhance. Serve the New England Clam Chowder in bowls and garnish with chopped fresh parsley, if preferred. Enjoy the soup with oyster crackers and freshly baked bread(Optional).
