Steps

Step 1

Prepare the soup: Bring vegetable or chicken stock to a boil in a pot over medium flame. In a small bowl, combine miso, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Add the miso mixture to the boiling soup and stir lightly to dissolve the miso so that the flavor is distributed properly.

Lower the heat and maintain the soup flame as you prepare the noodles and toppings.

Cook the ramen noodles: In a separate pot, bring water to a boil and prepare the ramen noodles with the help of the instructions given in the packet. Drain the noodles and rinse under cold water. Set them apart.

Prepare toppings (optional): While the noodles are cooking, put together the toppings to add to the miso ramen soup. This includes slices of onions, mushrooms, carrots, and some other greens of your choice. You also can make soft-boiled eggs by boiling them for 6-7 minutes, cooling them in ice water, then peeling and slicing them.

Step 5

Assemble the soup: Divide the cooked ramen noodles into bowls. Pour the warm miso soup over the noodles. Arrange the prepared materials on top of the soup as preferred by you.

Step 6

Serve the miso ramen soup right away, garnishing it with additional green onions, sesame seeds, and chili oil, if preferred.
