Only 20 minutes are required to prepare this quick and healthy Indian recipe is a flavorful chickpea curry. Also popularly known as chana masala, this dish is a comforting and delicious dinner.

Steps

Step 1

Firstly, grind the onion, tomato, ginger, garlic, and chili pepper together in a food processor into a paste.

Step 2

Then heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry bay leaves in hot oil into fragrant for about 30 seconds. Then you will pour the paste into the skillet and cook until the oil begins to separate from the mixture and is a golden brown colour which will take around 2-3 minutes. Add salt, turmeric, gram masala, coriander, and chili powder to season the mixture. Cook and stir until hot which will take around 2 to 3 minutes.

Step 3

Then you will stir enough water into the mixture to get a thick gravy. Bring to a boil. Then stir the chickpeas into the gravy and make sure to reduce to medium heat and cook until the chickpeas are heated through for around 5-7 minutes. Before serving garnish with cilantro.
