Steps

Step 1

Till the water runs clear, rinse the sticky rice under cold water. Soak the rice in enough water to cover it for at least 30 minutes, or ideally for a few hours.

Step 2

Drain the soaked rice and place it in a bamboo or metal steamer lined with cheesecloth or a muslin cloth. Steam the rice over simmering water for about 20-25 minutes, or until it's tender and cooked. Check it occasionally and add more water to the steamer if needed.
