Step 1

Heat some vegetable oil in a big saucepan over medium heat. Next, add the popcorn kernels, cover the pot with a lid, and shake the pot occasionally. Once the popping slows down, remove the pot from the heat. Lastly, carefully move the popcorn that has popped into a big bowl, making sure that no kernels remain unpopped.

Step 2

To melt the white chocolate chips, you can use a microwave-safe bowl and heat them in 30-second intervals while stirring in between each interval until the chocolate is completely smooth. Once the chocolate is melted, you can add the peppermint extract and mix it well until it is thoroughly combined.

Step 3

Gently toss the popped popcorn in the melted white chocolate until it is evenly covered.

Step 4

Sprinkle the crushed candy canes or peppermint candies over the popcorn while the white chocolate melts. Then, toss the popcorn again to ensure an even distribution of the peppermint crunch.

Step 5

Spread the coated popcorn on a parchment-lined baking sheet to cool and allow the white chocolate to set. Once the white chocolate has hardened, break the popcorn into clusters.
