Steps

Step 1

Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch square baking dish or in addition sized oven-safe dish with butter or cooking spray.

Step 2

Prepare the berry filling: In a massive bowl, combine mixed berries, granulated sugar, cornstarch or arrowroot powder, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Stir till berries are evenly covered with sugar mixture.

Step 3

Prepare the topping: In a separate bowl, combine gluten-free oats, almond flour, brown sugar, chopped almonds or pecans (if using), chilled cubed butter or coconut oil, and blend in the cinnamon and a pinch of salt.

Step 4

Using your hands or a pastry cutter, blend the ingredients till the combination resembles coarse crumbs and the butter or coconut oil is evenly mixed.

Step 5

Assemble and Bake: Pour the berry filling into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the topping to completely cover the berry filling. Place the baking dish on a baking sheet (to catch any drips) and bake inside the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or till the filling is bubbly and the topping is golden brown and crispy.

Step 6

Serving Instructions: Remove the blended berry crumble from the oven and permit to chill a little before serving. Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream if you like.
