Steps

Step 1

Boil the potatoes until they become tender. Peel and mash them in a bowl. Add the red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt to the mashed potatoes. Blend all the ingredients thoroughly so that a uniform mixture can be made.

Step 2

Divide the potato mixture into equal portions and shape them into small, flat, round patties. In a pan over medium heat, heat the oil. You can check if the oil is hot enough by adding a small piece of potato mixture. If it sizzles, the oil is ready. Gently place the potato patties into the hot oil and fry them until they turn golden brown and crispy on both sides. In 3 to 4 minutes it will be done on both sides.

Step 3

Once cooked, remove the Aloo Tikki from the pan and place them on a paper towel to remove excess oil. Garnish with fresh chopped coriander leaves. You can serve Aloo Tikki hot with tamarind chutney or mint chutney for extra flavor
